Goodbye Cody

Cody died Friday, January 25 around 6pm. She was 13 years old. Cody was my first dog. I got her when she was just 6 weeks old. She was the cutest puppy I have ever seen. Her ears were floppy and they started to go up during the first months. When they finally were all the way up, they looked like satellite dishes. She was a spirited adolescent and loved to run away from me and get into mud puddles. She could smell them out a mile away. Maybe that was a product of being born in the desert. Cody went on countless cross country journeys. First in the Saturn, where she could sit in the back and put her head on my shoulder, then in the Ford wagon, and finally in the Tic Tac.

Its hard to loose a friend. Hard to see them age and start to struggle. It helps to remind myself that I tried to give her the best life I could. I would like to think that she was happy. And now, she is playing with BeeJay, her tail fluffy and beautiful, her joints not hurting, her eyes and ears clear, and her bark loud and strong.

Goodbye my girl. We'll miss you.

I'll miss you Cody, you were a great dog, and the first one of the Mutton clan to play fetch with me when I met you years ago. Thanks for being my friend all this time. :)

Sorry to hear. I'll never forget the days playing "there's a ball under the couch" in that s***hole house in Kirkwood. Hopefully she and Gigi are having some high times.
